How To Say Hello in French

Here you’ll learn how to say hello in French. It’s actually much easier than you think. One critical thing to understand is that in French there are two different ways for how to speak to strangers and people older than you and people your own age or younger. It’s very important to get this part right in France! To say hello or good morning in french you say, “Bonjour.” To ask a stranger or somebody older than you, “How are you?” you ask, “Bonjour, Allez-vous bien?” or “Bonjour, Comment allez-vous?” For somebody your own age or younger you say, “Salut” for “hi” then to ask “How are you?” you say, “Ca va bien?”.
